Leslie Lehmann, MD, Named Clinical Director of Pediatric Stem Cell Transplantation
Leslie Lehmann, MD, was recently appointed Clinical Director of Pediatric Stem Cell Transplantation at Dana-Farber and Children's Hospital Boston. She has been the interim clinical director since June 2005.
"Leslie has led the program with great insight and dedication," says Stuart Orkin, chairman of the Pediatric Oncology department. "She has launched collaborations with the Pediatric Blood and Marrow Transplant Consortium and the Children's Oncology Group Transplant subcommittee. With Leslie's guidance, the service continues to deliver spectacular outcomes for patients with complex medical needs who travel to New England from all over the world."
Lehmann joined Dana-Farber and Children's in 1996, with a clinical focus on pediatric stem cell transplantation and treatment of young patients with non-Hodgkin lymphoma and pediatric myeloproliferative diseases. Since then, she's assumed additional responsibilities, including educating other providers about the principals and practice of stem cell transplantation, and developing research protocols focused on improvements in supportive care for stem cell transplant recipients. She also supervised the renovation of the inpatient unit at Children's in 2003, which significantly improved the patient/family experience.
